BAE Systems Australia has unveiled plans to introduce new technologies designed to enable strategic data-driven decision making in real time across the Hobart Class Destroyer Enterprise. BAE Systems’ Integrated Asset Management System (IAMS) is a new technology designed to 'provide a connected data driven environment that brings people, processes, and technology together within a sustainment delivery enterprise'.
Austal snares $57m contract for US Navy robot warships

Austal Limited says it has further entrenched itself in the US Navy’s push to operate robot warships in conflict zones. The Perth-based shipbuilder won a $US44 million ($56.9 million) contract to build autonomous capability into the next vessel it delivers to the US Navy – a 103 metre-long, high-speed aluminium catamaran capable of carrying more than 300 troops.
Raytheon Awarded $3 Billion USAF Contract for F-15 Radar Eagle Vision

The Raytheon Co., El Segundo, California has been awarded a $3,120,000,000 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for F-15 Radar Eagle Vision. This contract provides for the production, modernization and support of the F-15 APG-82 radar system to rapidly deliver and stay aligned with the F-15 weapon system program. Work will be performed in El Segundo, California, and is expected to be completed June 8, 2036.
RENK to establish Australian operations for Lynx vehicles

German company RENK has announced its intention to expand an operational footprint into Australia should Rheinmetall’s Lynx KF41 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) be selected for the Land 400 Phase 3 program. The company says that should the Lynx IFV be selected, it will establish a new subsidiary in Brisbane to assemble and test transmission systems and final drives for the Lynx and potentially other military vehicles in service across the region.

Australian F-35A makes history on Exercise Arnhem Thunder

For the first time, Australian Air Force F-35A Lightning II aircraft have taken to the skies with a full complement of weapons. The two fully laden F-35As last month took off from RAAF Base Darwin as part of Exercise Arnhem Thunder 21, according the Department of Defence website. Commanding Officer No. 35 Squadron Wing Commander Matthew Harper said the F-35A was the only Western fighter jet that could carry both internal and external ordnance.
Govt certifies first three 'strategic' data centre providers

The federal government has certified the first three data centre providers under its new hosting certification framework, with all protected-level data now expected to be stored in these facilities. Employment minister Stuart Robert, who holds responsiblity for the government’s digital agenda, late on Friday revealed that the first providers had received the green tick, without disclosing their names.
Indian navy to float $6 billion tender for six submarines

NEW DELHI – India’s government has approved the launch of a $6.14 billion program for the construction of six conventional submarines under Project 75-I. The approval was granted by the defense ministry’s procurement body, the Defence Acquisition Council, on June 4. It permits the Indian navy to publish a tender for six submarines, with a target audience of domestic shipbuilders.

Saab Dynamics and Raytheon Missile Systems, in association with the US Army, have conducted the first live firings of the new 84 mm Guided Multipurpose Munition (GMM) all-up round using the Carl-Gustaf M4 recoilless rifle and an adaptation of the AT4 disposable launcher. Conducted at the US Army's Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, from 3–5 November 2020 but disclosed in early June, the GMM System Capability Demonstration marked the culmination of a three-year US government Rapid Innovation Funding (RIF) contract

The U.S. Navy and Aerospace giant Boeing hit a major milestone with its carrier-based MQ-25 Stingray aerial refueling drone. In a release morning Monday, Boeing announced that the MQ-25 T1 test asset refueled a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter aircraft, demonstrating its aerial refueling mission for the first time in history.

British Army attempts to modernize its armored fighting capabilities have taken a new hit with reports that the General Dynamics UK-built Ajax reconnaissance vehicle has encountered significant design problems. British newspaper Daily Telegraph cited a leaked document outlining issues such as excessive vibration, which had required the Army to impose speed restrictions on the vehicle and limits on the time crews could operate them.

Oshkosh Defense won a $942.9 million contract to integrate 30mm medium caliber weapons systems onto U.S. Army Stryker vehicles, the company said on Friday. The upgrade to the Stryker Double V Hull Infantry Carrier Vehicle will provide "precision lethality capability to the Army's Stryker Brigade Combat Team," the company said Friday in a press release.

Defence pauses battle system project with Elbit Systems

The Department of Defence has paused its $1.44 billion battle management system project with Elbit Systems after both current and future versions of the software failed to meet technical standards. The suspension has forced the department to adopt an interim software solution from Danish software provider Systematic, which is expected to be used for up to the next three years.
